About Mike James

His reputation has been built on over 30 years of high standards of professionalism and efficiency for various tour operators, as well as independent and corporate clients.

Mike is a trained guide in the cities of York, Bath, and London, and has worked in group travel since 1989 giving him the experience and contacts you need to help make your trip a success whether you need a budget tour, 5 star luxuries, or something in between!  He offers services from tour guiding in the south west of England, to tour managing your itinerary across the UK and Ireland. He will also help you build the itinerary for your visit, including: booking accommodation; arranging land-based travel; visits to attractions, events and experiences; and day trips.

Qualifications

Mike has been qualified by the Institute of Tourist Guiding as a Level 4 (Blue Badge) Tourist Guide for the South West of England since 2014 when he won the regional prize for Best Written Paper. He is also an accredited guide at York Minster since 2007, and has completed sightseeing training courses in London, York, and Bath, following completion of his BA (Hons) in Performing Arts (with Drama) in 1997. Mike also regularly attends courses in Continuing Professional Development for tourist guides. As a specialist in culinary travel, in his spare time Mike also works in the cheese industry! He can regularly be found behind the cheese counter of the country’s oldest cheesemonger, and he has also worked for various cheese makers in the south west.
